What is BIAB?

Builder gel — not just another nail product

BIAB (builder-in-a-bottle) is a thick, self-levelling structured gel applied directly to the natural nail. It bonds at the molecular level, creating a protective overlay that strengthens the nail as it grows. Unlike acrylics, there's no drilling and no strong fumes. Unlike standard gel polish, BIAB has real tensile strength — it bends with your nail rather than cracking. The result is longer-lasting colour, stronger natural nails, and a finish that stays chip-free for 3–4 weeks.

Our BIAB Services

What we offer

Whether you're new to BIAB or maintaining an existing set, we have the right appointment for you.

New Set

BIAB Overlay

Applied over your natural nails — no extensions, no added length. The BIAB product creates a structured overlay that adds strength and protection while your natural nail grows beneath it. The most popular starting point for clients new to BIAB.

Maintenance

BIAB Infill

Maintenance appointments every 3–4 weeks. Rather than removing the full product, your technician fills the grown-out area near the cuticle and refreshes the colour. Quicker than a full set, gentler on the natural nail, and keeps your nails looking freshly done.

Added Length

BIAB with Extensions

For clients wanting added length, BIAB can be used as the enhancement medium — building over soft gel tips rather than using traditional acrylic. A more natural-looking extension with the same BIAB strength and flexibility, without the acrylic smell or damage.

Safe Removal

BIAB Removal

When it's time to take a break or start fresh, BIAB is removed using the soak-off method — no harsh drilling into the nail plate. The natural nail is assessed after removal and we'll advise on aftercare or next steps to keep your nails in good condition.

Common Questions

BIAB FAQ

What is BIAB and how is it different from regular gel?

BIAB (builder-in-a-bottle) is a structured gel that adds strength and flexibility to the natural nail. Unlike regular gel polish, it has real tensile strength — it bends with the nail rather than cracking. It also lasts significantly longer, typically 3–4 weeks before an infill is needed, compared to 2–3 weeks for standard gel.

How long do BIAB nails last?

Most clients get 3–4 weeks between infill appointments, depending on nail growth rate and lifestyle. With good aftercare — wearing gloves for cleaning, applying cuticle oil daily and avoiding using your nails as tools — it's common to reach four weeks without any chipping or lifting.

Does BIAB damage natural nails?

No. Applied and removed correctly, BIAB is one of the most nail-friendly enhancements available. There's no drilling into the nail plate, and removal uses the soak-off method, which preserves the natural nail. Many clients with previously damaged nails find their nails improve with BIAB compared to regular gel.

Can BIAB help strengthen weak or brittle nails?

Yes — this is one of BIAB's most popular applications. The structured overlay adds physical strength that prevents the natural nail from bending and splitting. Clients with naturally thin, brittle or damaged nails often see significant improvement in nail condition after a few BIAB appointments.

How often do I need a BIAB infill?

Most clients book every 3–4 weeks. Your technician fills the grown-out area near the cuticle and refreshes the colour — a quicker appointment than a full set and gentler on the natural nail. Call us on 01872 262844 or book online to schedule.
